How far are you willing to go to protect the things you love?
You may hike, fish, camp, or sun tan on the beach, but are you committed enough to the activity you enjoy to stand up and protect it?
In the case of Jeremiah Bergman, the answer was clear:
Every month, Scorpion honors its teams by choosing about a dozen employees to recognize across each department. From that pool, one lucky employee of the month is allowed the opportunity to choose a charitable organization for Scorpion to give its monthly donation.
Like the proud recipient of a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket, Jeremiah Bergman was given the opportunity to choose this month’s charitable donation. He chose to protect an activity close to him, that’s also a defining characteristic of California iconography:
Surfing in the Pacific.
The Surfrider Foundation is an oceanic organization that has dedicated itself to protecting and enjoying the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches through powerful political action. Comprised of a staff of nearly 50 people, the foundation thrives on its volunteers and hosts more than 79 chapters across the globe.
For Jeremiah, the mission of the Surfing Foundation is personal:
“I know it doesn’t seem like much, but they really do a lot to protect our beaches everywhere- and right here in California. It’s really cool seeing the organization in action in Ventura… I see them out there all the time, and a lot of the volunteers surf in the same lineups as me. They know what’s threatening their local breaks, and that being careless in the slightest could cost an entire beach.”
If you’re a surfer, a swimmer, or a go-to-the-beach-and-lay-downer and you’d like to get involved with The Surfrider Foundation, it’s easy: just sign up here.
