2023 Scorpion Cares Mid-Year Update

Find out what initiatives Scorpion Cares has been involved with this year and how we are helping our local communities.
Caitlyn Blair

Through Scorpion Cares, we aim to provide financial assistance to non-profit organizations that support local businesses and their communities. We are proud to contribute to organizations that empower our local businesses and communities to thrive. Throughout this year, Scorpion has had the privilege of supporting some amazing causes.

Here’s a peek into some of the fantastic organizations we supported in Q1!

Operation Snowstorm

We love helping our clients with their own initiatives whenever we get the chance! When we heard about Operation Snowstorm, we knew we had to be a part of it. Operation Snowstorm is a charity based in Houston, Texas, operated by Ed Newby, owner of Scorpion’s client A/C Heating. Operation Snowstorm brings the joys of a winter wonderland to the doorsteps of terminally ill children battling cancer.

Michael Hoefflin Foundation

We were also able to support The Michael Hoefflin Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides financial and emotional support to families who have children diagnosed with cancer in Santa Clarita and the surrounding valleys.

Lehi Jr Devo Mountain Bike Team

This cause was such a fun one to be involved with! The Jr Devo Mountain Bike Team is an all-inclusive mountain biking team for 7th and 8th graders in Lehi, Utah. Scorpion’s very own Trevor Hammond is a volunteer coach! In addition to competing, the league contributes thousands of hours building and maintaining trails that locals and riders use from across the country.

The New Way

The New Way is dedicated to helping homeless families find homes, jobs, and hope. At any given time, there are approximately 600-1000 individuals experiencing homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. The New Way works to support an individualized plan that leads to permanent housing.

Circle of Hope

The Circle of Hope strives to provide financial assistance to uninsured, underinsured, and low-income individuals fighting all forms of cancer in the Santa Clarita Valley.

National Brain Tumor Society

We are proud to have contributed to the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of Alan Wax, a Scorpion client and father to our very own Scorpion, Beverly Olivia-Wax.

GoFundMe: Jeff Rosado

Our team was deeply saddened by the loss of Jeff Rosado, our Director of Regional Sales. We were happy to send support to the GoFundMe that supports his family.

And here’s a bit about some of the organizations we supported in Q2.

Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley, CA

No child should experience homelessness. Family Promise brings shelter, meals, and support services to pregnant women and families experiencing or in danger of facing homelessness. Family Promise is a cost-efficient and effective community response to the families in the Santa Clarita Valley community who are struggling to keep or find housing. It is not a shelter but a resource that provides families with interim housing for 30-90 days while they find employment and/or housing.

College of the Canyons Basic Needs Center (BaNC), CA

The Basic Needs Center connects low-income students with available resources, both on-campus and in the Santa Clarita community, that will address students’ basic needs so they can remain focused on getting their education.

The Basic Needs Center can remove the barriers that adversely affect students’ abilities to progress in their academic and professional growth. They also work to increase equitable access to food, housing, and financial resources for all students.

La Roca Futbol Club, UT

We were happy to make a donation in support of a Scorpion client’s daughter. View a message from the La Roca Futbol Club below.

Thank you for giving our La Roca U14 ECNL team the opportunity to introduce ourselves to you. Our team is composed of 12 & 13 year old girls from all around Utah & Salt Lake County. We are very good, and we love soccer! Our team competes locally in Utah, in various tournaments throughout the nation and within Elite Club National League (ECNL) - the highest recognized level of play in the Nation. We are scheduled to play in Nevada, Arizona, Washington, California, Colorado, Texas, Florida and all around the state of Utah.
