Job Overview
As the Public Relations Manager, you will help oversee public and investor relations on the Corporate Marketing team. Your goal in this role is to maintain a favorable and consistent public image for Scorpion through a strong PR communications strategy. Day-to-day, you’ll support the management of communication initiatives, write / edit press releases prior to publication, work closely with Scorpion’s PR agency, and oversee your team. You’ll also serve as the liaison to our PR contacts and partner with them to create and distribute announcements, news, and updates.
In this role, exceptional communication and high emotional intelligence are central to success. You need to be a masterful writer/editor and understand how messaging will come across as well as the right way to handle sensitive topics, and crisis communication. Not only will you help to maintain the Scorpion image at all times, but you’ll reinforce our story as an employer of choice. You’ll ensure that Scorpion’s story is strategic, compelling, and cohesive – and adequately represents the point of view of our executive team.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Manage external corporate communications
- Oversee PR communications strategy, local community engagement, partner and investor relations
- Work with PR agency to develop communications strategy around corporate initiatives such as partner announcements, corporate news, philanthropy, and product updates
- Work with Head of M&A and internal comms when rolling out M&A announcements
- Collaborate with internal comms on company announcements, when necessary
- Work with events team to plan, promote, and execute all external corporate events to promote recruiting, and brand awareness, and local community support
What You'll Need
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in PR
- Must be an exceptional communicator & writer with the ability to communicate complex concepts into easily understood terms for non-technical audiences
- Confidence when working with C-suite
- Ability to oversee and coach a team
- Must have experience and a proven track record of success directing or managing agency relationships
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred OR equivalent experience
