Job Overview

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer who is: self-motivated, innovative, works well under pressure, and collaborates well with others. As the Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining infrastructure as well as working on high-level projects for Scorpion. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) are required to support our internal teams and keep the business running, all while giving your “next level” of effort.
 
Your primary role will be the “eye in the sky” – providing observability and reporting on a variety of application performance metrics and log sources. You will be the go-to for “what’s happening” and “what happened” questions, and as such you need to have a dogged attitude, determined to find the root cause of an issue.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, monitor, and support existing physical and virtual infrastructure, including networking
  • Investigate production outages, and determine root causes and implement fixes
  • Build application specific dashboards and views for analysis of performance and bottlenecks
  • Perform proactive analysis of bottlenecks and points of failure – plan and implement improvements to address discoveries
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system and platform architecture
  • Maintain a customer-focused service attitude and work ethic
  • Bridge knowledge gap between development, devops, and infrastructure stack
  • Responsive in on-call duties – this role will be part of an on-call rotation

What You'll Need

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Observability Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer or similar engineering practice
  • Must have high aptitude and flexibility – ability to learn new technologies and shift priorities quickly
  • 10+ years in technology, working with Windows, VMware, and/or Linux operating systems (Ubuntu and CentOS) preferred
  • Must have experience with observability tools and methodologies
  • Must have experience working within Azure
  • High degree of proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the following technologies a plus: Powershell, Azure ARC, Ansible, Chocolatey
  • Preferred development experience using .NET
