Job Overview
Scorpion is looking for an experienced Public Relations Coordinator to handle PR on our Corporate Communications team! This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for you to support our VP of Corporate Communications in ensuring external interactions with Scorpion positively reflect our brand and our products.
As the Public Relations Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for upholding a positive and professional public image for Scorpion while ensuring that our brand is portrayed consistently across the board. Your ultimate goal is to help create a positive buzz about Scorpion through intentional communications and networking.
To succeed as the Public Relations Coordinator, you must have experience in public relations and a demonstrated ability to craft press releases and other strategic external communications. Overall, we’re looking for someone who is eager to become a highly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented extension of our business and our brand.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Support the VP of Corporate Communications in managing all aspects of the PR strategy and execution, upholding a positive public image that aligns with our brand
- Assist with drafting press releases, pitches, social media posts, blogs for the website, etc. and refine our core messaging to constantly cultivate a consistent image
- Ensure external communications are well-timed, engaging, and well thought out, and work with VP of Corporate Communications on determining timing
- Establish and build relationships with media and local influencers through networking, attending industry events, and other forms of outreach
- Act as liaison in a collaborative PR effort with Scorpion’s PR agency
- Assist in evaluating, briefing, and executing media and executive speaking requests
- Assist with planning and directing of live media on-sites
- Maintain documentation and track metrics related to impressions, engagement, share of voice, and monitor and track all positive and negative publicity related to Scorpion
- Coordinate all award submissions for corporate achievements
- Research outcomes of competitors’ recent PR campaigns to ensure maximum ROI
- Assist the VP of Corporate Communications in handling crisis communications with a critical eye that considers public opinions, news sources, etc.
- Support any other PR or communications efforts as needed
What You'll Need
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in PR required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or other related field required
- Proven track record of developing successful press releases and other external business communications
- Exceptional research, writing, and presentation skills to deliver polished, engaging & on-brand communications
- A meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to stay on top of public opinions/news and conduct thorough research
- Must be able to handle external communications activities, including sensitive issues, with finesse and professionalism
