Associate Accounting Director

Job Overview

The Associate Accounting Director will oversee key accounting systems, processes, and transactions, including the monthly close-the-books process, consolidations, reporting, technical accounting, and the optimal utilization of the company’s financial software systems.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review consolidated recurring financial reporting packages
  • Key player in the month-end close process
  • Manage capture of transactional activities such as recurring revenue streams, monthly revenue accruals, and other accounting transactions
  • Partner with the financial analysis team regarding budget to actual comparisons
  • Develop and put into effect internal financial controls to ensure the integrity of the company's closing process and financial function, with an eye toward compliance and scalability 
  • Research and writing of memoranda regarding technical accounting matters
  • Adhoc analysis and projects as required
  • Embrace a continuous improvement mindset and generate enhanced reporting and analytics which will allow quicker response to changing business dynamics.
  • Establish and implement metrics to create priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure results
  • Propose and implement accounting policies and procedures to meet both current and future business models
  • Prepare pro-forma historical financial data as necessary
  • Strengthen accounting and financial processes and the development of staff with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output
  • Assist in the annual budget process as applicable
  • Support a “Service Department” philosophy to the department’s partners and internal customers 
  • Perform other duties as needed (team player!)

What You'll Need

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and CPA required
  • 8+ years of combined “Big 4”/national firm experience and private company experience
  • Experience with a publicly traded company and/or growth stage company a plus
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical accounting guidance
  • Savvy with financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and analyses
  • Strong, professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct a plus
  • Hands-on and proactive work-style
