Scorpion Throws Its Support Behind Client in the Fight to Tackle Autism

At Scorpion, our clients are the primary drivers of everything we do.

Which is why when our client, Joel Levine of Levine & Wiss, PLLC, invited us to attend his annual Monday Night Party for the support of autistic children, it wasn’t a question.

In a night dotted with NFL elites, the focus of the event was clear: to improve the future of children affected by autism.

“A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child," said Levine, a quote that resounded throughout the night and hit home strongly for the attorney.

Having autistic children, the Monday Night Party is intensely personal for Levine, who has run the event consecutively for the past six years.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by impaired social interaction, impaired verbal and nonverbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior. Difficult to detect in the early stages of the disorder, it’s typical for parents to notice signs of social impairment in a child before the age of three.

Today, autism is estimated to affect more than 24.8 million people, with a prevalence rate that continues to soar as diagnosing practices further evolve.

An attendee of the event, Scorpion Franchise Brand Manager, Britt Flynn, had this to say:

“It was incredible to see that even though there were high-profile athletes from the New York Giants, the event was not focused on them, but instead focused on the children and bringing awareness to autism. It was an honor to contribute to this cause as well as to offer our support to Levine & Wiss. We are looking forward to seeing the continued success of this fundraiser as it educates and sheds light on an ongoing challenge for many children and families."

As children with autism can have an increased difficulty living independently as they get older, the proceeds of the Monday Night Party are dedicated to three non-profit entities—each with a mission of offering support for those on the spectrum and other young children.

These entities include:

Life WorcFamily Center for Autism

The Family Center for Autism of Long Island is one of the city’s first venues to provide a lifespan of services to children on the spectrum, a lifeline of support to the families who love them, and an educational resource for the educators who teach them. Proceeds from the year will go directly to support the development of a group home for young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Anderson Center for Autism

The core philosophy of the Anderson Center for Autism (ACA) is to help all people live a quality life. With growing resources and technology, the agency has been able to contribute much towards optimizing the quality of life for those with autism.

The Damon Harrison I Told the Storm Foundation

The mission of Damon Harrison’s I Told the Storm charity is to empower disadvantaged youth of Louisiana and the communities in which they live by providing them with enriching activities that expose them to greater opportunities.
