A couple of our Scorpions recently took to the green at the 17th Annual Steven H. Spindel CAAA Golf Classic for a good cause—to support injured workers.
The golf tournament was hosted by the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA) on April 3, 2017 at Valencia Country Club. The annual event raises funds for CAAA, an association made up of attorney-advocates who help injured workers protect their right to compensation in California. CAAA is a Teamsters affiliate that represents 25,000 union members each year.
The golf tournament included a unique three-tiered scramble format, which gave all levels of golfers a shot at winning a trophy. It also included a putting contest as well as other contests out on the course.
“This was my first year participating in the Steven H. Spindel CAAA Golf Classic, and it was a blast!” said Ryan Kuhn, VP of Internet Marketing at Scorpion. “The tournament was well organized and offered a great variety of contests, sponsors, food, and fun.”
Several of Scorpion’s attorney clients were sponsors of the golf classic, and one client—Glendale workers’ comp attorney Alan Wax—served as Tournament Chairman. Attorney Wax is the founder and first president of the Los Angeles Valley Applicants’ Attorneys Association (LAVAAA). Our Scorpion employees played on the same team as Robert Castillo from the Law Offices of Wax & Wax, and they won first place overall in the tournament.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to support our client, Alan Wax, and the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association, which does such a great job in helping injured workers throughout California navigate the road to recovery and get back to work,” Ryan added. “I look forward to returning again next year!”
