In March 2013, Scorpion honored two separate employees as Employee of the Month (EOM). The first chose to give their donation to Adopt-A-Classroom, an organization which pairs donors with classrooms to help promote stronger education throughout the nation. The program was started by James Rosenberg, who was previously a mergers and acquisitions attorney. During his time practicing law, he mentored a student at a school for pre-Kindergarten aged children who were physically and/or mentally delayed. During this time, he was alarmed at how few resources the classroom had. This was the moment where he became inspired to do something about it, and founded Adopt-A-Classroom; he left his law job in 1998 to pursue it full time. If you are interested in pairing up with a classroom, visit them online at www.adoptaclassroom.org.
Our second EOM of March gave their donation to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which was founded in 2007 by former F--16 pilot, Major Dan Rooney. The purpose of the foundation is to help the families of soldiers who have been either killed or disabled during their service to the country. In military operations carried out in Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 700,000 soldiers have been killed or disabled; however, a staggering 87% of wounded military member's families do not qualify for Veterans Administration benefits. As their website states, their battle is ours, and they fight to ensure that through scholarships and other assistance, the spouses and children of these fallen heroes get the help that they deserve. If you are interested in getting involved with the Folds of Honor Foundation, visit them online today at www.foldsofhonor.org. There you can learn how you can get involved with The Patriot Cup and other events, or donate to their cause.
