Per one 2013 Local Consumer Review Survey, nearly 80% of all participants said they trusted online reviews as much as they would trust a personal recommendation of a business. That same survey found that 85% of participants read online customer reviews to determine whether or not a local business is a good one. Statistics such as this beg the question, is your online image promoting you the way that it should?

The Yahoo & Yelp Problem: Losing Reviews Online

Recently, Yahoo and Yelp partnered together to create a bigger search push.

This, however, has not gone as smoothly as planned. In fact, local businesses are now faced with a huge problem: they are losing years of reviews from their Yahoo Local listings. Immediately following the partnership, Yahoo was still showing their old reviews…until a new client posted a review on Yelp. After that, the old reviews were being completely wiped out and replaced with the new Yelp review.

This was essentially losing years of local businesses' hard-earned reputation.

For some people, this may be a non-problem; after all, this only happens when businesses are getting more reviews.
