About the Senior Security Systems Engineer role:
Scorpion is looking for an experienced Sr. Security Systems Engineer to join our Information Security team!
As a Sr. Security Systems Engineer, you will report directly to the Director of Information Security and will be an integral part of our Information Security Team. This role will serve as technical lead in the development and implementation of Information Security technology design and security operations including corresponding policies, standards, and procedures. The role will primarily work with IT Infrastructure and the Technical Operations team as the Information Security technical resource for security solution design. You will be directly involved in influencing and implementing security features within our client’s network hardware platform, completing thorough risk assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and configuring systems to enhance existing security features.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Implement information security controls and patterns that support risk assessments and the development of secure architectures.
- Conduct proactive research to analyze security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Prioritize and implement security controls and other remediation efforts to address gaps.
- Partner with multiple teams across the company with varying sets of priorities to ensure timely delivery of the security solutions.
- Act as the point of contact for our managed security provider to coordinate remediation efforts for escalated security alerts.
- Head up the Vulnerability Management Program, including running scans and working with IT on hardening devices, patch management, and mitigating vulnerabilities.
- Conduct quarterly user/account audits.
- Select, configure, develop, and maintain information protection systems such as email protection gateway, next-gen antivirus, DLP, and vulnerability scanners.
- Demonstrate Scorpion’s security capabilities by responding to customer security questionnaires.
- Conduct regular security awareness training for all Scorpion employees.
What You'll Need
Education & Experience:
- BS in Computer Science or similar degree, or the equivalent in technical certifications.
- A minimum of 5 years of information security experience.
- Familiarity with regulatory and legal security standards and requirements such as HIPAA, ISO 27002, and NIST 800-53.
- Experience in security incident response and incident handling.
- Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools.
- Experience researching, building, and implementing security systems.
- Expertise in understanding threat models to better protect against attacks or detect new vectors.
- Experience leading efforts to prevent, mitigate, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
- Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, and/or CISA.
- Must be able to tell the Recruiter a great joke.
