Stephen Bess

Vice President of Franchise Marketing

As the Vice President of Franchise Marketing, Stephen heads up the team that handles every single franchise client that we have, from the largest franchisor to the newest franchise locations.

Stephen’s approach to his job is defined by his highly competitive nature, a lifetime spent team building, and a desire to always exceed expectations. These all contribute to his favorite part of his job: building lifelong franchisor / client relationships and finding solutions to their challenges.

I take great pride in leading the Scorpion Franchise team—and in just being a Scorpion because our company’s core values mirror my own. We work hard and play hard, we’re ultra-competitive, and we’re committed to excellence. “Dialing it up” isn’t just a phrase; it’s the driving force behind everything we do. My team works hard to ensure that working with Scorpion Franchise is nearly identical to working at Scorpion—it’s an incredible experience that doesn’t just exceed expectations, it permanently recalibrates them.

Stephen grew up in Nashville, where he attended an all-boys college-prep school that inspired the setting of Dead Poets Society. While attending Rice University, he played college baseball and was drafted twice by professional teams—once by the White Sox (whom he turned down so that he could complete his degree) and the Detroit Tigers.

For 5 years, he played professional baseball for the Tigers organization as a late-inning closer. An injury led to a career change into the publishing industry. For years, he served as the Executive Editor of several action sport titles, combining his love of competitive lifestyles with a passion for writing and content creation.

In his spare time, Stephen volunteers with City of Hope National Cancer Center, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and Be The Match. A foodie, he spends his time cooking and watching Food Network, and he enjoys spending time with his wife Erin and daughter Juliette.
