Art is a form of creative expression and self-discovery that no child should go without. That’s why one of our April Employees of the Month, Anthony Gaona, chose nonprofit organization Create Now to receive a charitable donation from Scorpion. The charity selection is part of our monthly tradition here at Scorpion. One lucky EOM gets to choose an organization they want to support, and Scorpion donates to it on the employee’s behalf.
Create Now is a nonprofit organization that helps young people throughout Southern California find their voices through creative arts mentoring and education. The organization serves vulnerable youth between the ages 2 and 21, including those from shelters, group homes, detention centers, mental health clinics, rehab facilities, and special schools.
“I spent a lot of time playing and writing music growing up, and I know that exploring my creative side helped me grow as a person,” said Anthony, a web developer at Scorpion. “It’s important for young people to try different arts and crafts because it’s a way for them to learn about themselves and develop confidence and self-esteem. Create Now helps facilitate that learning process.”
Create Now offers various types of programs, including those that focus on visual arts, music arts, literary arts, digital media arts, performing arts, fashion arts, and cultural journeys. The organization has been serving children and young adults for more than 20 years. Find out how you can volunteer your time or donate to Create Now!
