What social problem weighs heavily on your heart? For Nicolas Gomez at Scorpion, it’s homelessness.
The Scorpion Senior Vice President of Sales found himself faced with a unique opportunity – the ability to choose a charity to receive a donation on his behalf. Nicolas received this honor as one of Scorpion’s February employees of the month. The timing couldn’t have been better! He had recently heard about a local shelter and organization called Bridge to Home, which helps homeless individuals throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
“There’s a waitlist for people to get in, and they are in dire need of more resources and volunteers. So when this opportunity came up, I immediately thought of Bridge to Home,” Nicolas said.
He added, “This organization is truly deserving of a Scorpion donation because they give people in unfortunate situations a place to stay, and they help them get back on their feet again. I think they’re doing something really amazing!”
Bridge to Home provides a wide range of support services to help individuals and families transition out of homelessness. These services include emergency winter shelter, case management, housing navigation, and medical and dental clinic services. Bridge to Home has served thousands of families over the past two decades and has played an integral role in the SCV. (Visit the organization’s website to learn more about how you can donate or volunteer.)
Scorpion’s monthly charitable donation is a valued tradition. Each month, our company names several employees of the month throughout departments, and one lucky Scorpion of the group is allowed to choose a charity to receive a financial gift in their name. The effort is a part of Scorpion Cares, the company’s charitable giving division.
