Scorpion Donates to the Houston Food Bank in Wake of Hurricane Harvey

On September 2, 2017, Hurricane Harvey—the first major hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. since 2005’s Hurricane Wilma—finally dissipated. But with its exit, it has left an impact so devastating on the city of Houston, it will take months, if not years, to recover.

As the single wettest tropical cyclone in U.S. record, the floods resulting from Hurricane Harvey have left homes in the hundreds of thousands underwater and more than 17,000 individuals in need of rescue.

The victims of Hurricane Harvey need help.

And they need help now.

Looking to extend a helping hand, Scorpion has donated to the Houston Food Bank. This organization’s efforts to keep shelters supplied with warm meals during this time has been nothing short of admirable.

As more than 30,000 residents are still displaced, support in any form is of vital importance to help these individuals keep their spirits and bodies intact amidst the storm’s destruction and devastation.

In terms of damage, FEMA Administrator Director Brock Long has called Harvey the worst disaster in the state of Texas’ history, with recovery efforts expected to take many years. The damage is estimated to be between $70 and $200 billion, with a bulk of that amount loss being attributed to losses sustained by uninsured homeowners. As the hurricane victims struggle to get back on their feet, a warm meal can go a long way.

Because of organizations like the Houston Food Bank, donations have allowed the organization to provide…

  • 4,172,345 pounds of food, water, and supplies to residents attempting to cope in the aftermath.

  • An additional 24 trucks to their fleet of 100 vehicles

  • An expanding distribution network of more than 180 separate agencies

“The lives of those affected by Hurricane Harvey weigh on our conscience,” says Corey Quinn, Chief Marketing Officer at Scorpion. “In whatever way we can, we’ll come together to aid and support those hurt in this disaster”

It’s Houston Food Bank’s level of efficacy within a crisis that has inspired Scorpion to offer its support, so if you’d like to contribute, even just a small amount to the service organization, please feel free to donate here.
