Scorpion Goes Big at 5K for Kids with Cancer Posted by Kylie Patterson | 3.25.16 5:20pm

Scorpion has been partnering with local, national, and even global organizations since it first became incorporated in an effort to give back. In the early days of the company, executives would coach local baseball teams and make small donations to local causes. Today, through our charitable branch, Scorpion Cares, we are able to put in “work” on not just clients, but worthy non-profit causes as well. This is a huge part of our culture and something we value about our corporate identity.

Over the last few years, Scorpion was a corporate presenting sponsor of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation’s Walk | Run for Kids with Cancer. Just a quick 5K, it’s a great opportunity for us to get out there every year for a good cause. The funds generated from sponsors, walkers, runners, and the silent auction go to help support the children and families affected by this terrible disease. Raising funds as well as awareness of their mission is a good cause to get out of bed early or on a Saturday morning!

Scorpion Leads the Way in Numbers

More than 180 Scorpion employees, friends, and family members made up the Scorpion team this year. These numbers earned us the honor of a plaque now displayed in the Scorpion offices, indicating the largest team award. In a sea of blue and white shirts, Scorpions cheered as their team was announced and got ready to begin the race.

Being a sponsor is a choice the company makes, but you can’t force people to volunteer their personal time to attend an event like that. The fact that so many did is a testament to the altruism of the members of Scorpion, as well as their loved ones.

Michael Hoefflin Foundation Executive Director Gillian Stone told Scorpion: “You have made a big difference for us! Thank you!” It has been an honor to support their cause for several years now, and Scorpion looks forward to a long relationship with this organization. Whether we are making a difference for our clients or an organization like this, we are excited for the opportunity.
