If you could choose any nonprofit to receive a charitable donation in your honor, which one would it be? Kristen Morin, a Scorpion developer and one of our November employees of the month, chose the American Cancer Society. It’s our monthly tradition—we select one lucky Scorpion from our numerous employees of the month to decide who will receive the donation.
Kristen explains why this organization is close to her heart.
“My mom is a breast cancer survivor, and having the help and financial support from a charity was one of the best things that happened during that stressful time. It would be great to have this donation help out another family dealing with cancer or to help find a cure,” she said.
According the American Cancer Society, more than 1 million people in the U.S. get cancer each year. The organization also shares that, thanks partially due to its help, 2 of every 3 people who are diagnosed with cancer today survive for at least 5 years. The American Cancer Society funds and conducts cancer research to help find a cure for the disease. The organization also raises cancer awareness and provides support to cancer patients.
As a company with employees whose lives have been directly impacted by cancer, we are honored to be able to lend a helping hand. Our charitable giving division, Scorpion Cares, provides financial support for various nonprofit organizations, including those that are hand-picked by our own employees.
