This year, one of Scorpion Design's very own employees, Ben Fiandaca, joined Team Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) by participating in the ASICS LA Marathon. The purpose of Team SU2C is simple – take advantage of popular marathons and use it to help gain funds for cancer research. As Team SU2C states on their website, "This is where the end of cancer begins." Believing in this goal, and this team, Ben set his sights on raising at least $500 for this marathon.
Scorpion, however, helped to blow that goal out of the water. Through a donation by Scorpion Cares, as well as charitable contributions from countless individual Scorpion employees and other supporters, Ben was able to raise 444% of his goal – ending with a total of more than $2,000. As a whole, Team SU2C was able to raise more than $7,000.
This is not the first time that Scorpion has risen to the challenge of supporting an employee in their efforts to raise money through marathon running. In 2012, they supported their own Devon Hopper who participated in The North Face Endurance Challenge Series, with funds going to Flintridge Guild of Children's Hospital. With the help of Scorpion, as well as other generous sponsors, Devon was able to raise more than $3,000. "The company is so incredibly generous when it comes to this," said Devon. "It is clear that Scorpion Design really has a passion for helping people."
