At Autism Speaks, they believe it is time to listen. The employee who was honored as our Employee of the Month (EOM) in June 2013 agrees, which is why he chose to give his donation to this organization founded in 2005 by grandparents of a child with autism. Since then, Autism Speaks has become a world leader in autism science, advocacy, and awareness. They seek to raise funds that can be used to look into causes, prevention, treatment, and cure for autism—as well as raising awareness.
In 2011, Autism Speaks was able to join President Obama as he signed the CARA, the Combating Autism Reauthorization Act. This bill authorized nearly 700 million over the space of three years to be spent in autism epidemiology, science and services. It has been victories like this over the years that have made Autism Speaks a worldwide leader in furthering the cause for those with autism spectrum disorders.
