It’s called medullary sponge kidney (MSK).
And as a congenital disease, Chelsea Payne was born with it; incurable and potentially life-threatening.
Despite the daily pain and discomfort tied to chronic kidney disease, Chelsea and her family are fighters. In the face of daily dialysis, innumerable blood transfusions, radiation to her kidney, weight loss, and unshakeable fatigue, Chelsea continues to go to work every day.
After Chelsea’s story made it through the halls of our offices, we were utterly compelled to support her. Our Scorpion employees have donated what they could and shared Chelsea Payne’s GoFundMe page throughout their social networking accounts, joining together to help her meet the costs of her rising medical expenses.
Chelsea is currently being treated at the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts with a treatment schedule of seven days a week. She’s experienced infections—creating difficulties in her care—and is required to take a significant amount of antibiotics. Although a kidney transplant is a predominant option for treatment, the transplant list can be lengthy. Meanwhile, her medication and dialysis treatments are becoming increasingly expensive.
Although Chelsea is receiving sufficient care, the associated cost is hitting its breaking point, and discontinuing it is far from a viable option.
Chelsea is hardworking, intelligent (graduated Cum Laude) and most importantly young. Too young to be fighting for her life.
She needs help.
